We give thanks for our friends.
Our dear friends.
We anger each other.
We fail each other.
We share this sad earth,
this tender life, this precious time.
Such richness. Such wildness.
Together we are blown about.
Together we are dragged along.
All this delight.
All this suffering.
All this forgiving life.
We hold it together.
Amen.

God, thankyou
for being,
for woven light
and woven shadow,
for grace,
for pity…
God,
thankyou
for silence,
for warmth
for cold,
for that which makes us feel
alive
and that which makes us feel
the tremour of death
and thanks for the wordless prayer
that needs no name for you
and needs no thing to name
thanks for being

‘Holy Trinity, Whom I Adore’ by Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity
My God, Trinity whom I adore, let me entirely forget myself that I may abide in you, still and peaceful as if my soul were already in eternity; let nothing disturb my peace nor separate me from you, O my unchanging God, but that each moment may take me further into the depths of your mystery ! Pacify my soul! Make it your heaven, your beloved home and place of your repose; let me never leave you there alone, but may I be ever attentive, ever alert in my faith, ever adoring and all given up to your creative action.

Division
We are breaking, we are falling we are losing our heart at the centre
Pease help us
Please hold us together
We are waiting for peace
We are crying for peace
Take our hands, pull us together
No
Oh great Love
That is a cry of pain
Rather help us find a cry of hope
We are breaking, we are falling
Help us fall
Help us to break the false cover over wounds
Help us to heal through cleansing, considering, talking
All those hard hard things
Please let us live in and understand and celebrate division
When dead parts are pulled away the red blood of life can flow again
Please put us on the edge where change is possible
Not all peace is life-giving
Not all conflict is life-taking
Life re-emerges out of confrontation
Help us to live in a world you and I made of dark and light together
Amen

Wine From the Vine
Posted: 28/03/2007
Kept by time
Woven through time
Saved through grace
Mercy, patience
Understanding
One more moment
Turning the moist soil
Woven together into one place which bears fruit
Each vine reaches for the sun
Each passes into shadow
Offering a single withered grape
To make the wine of love

God, I am scared. I know you love me but I’m afraid for me and my family. My finances are terrible. We need a miracle — a huge financial miracle very soon. I don’t know where to go, who to turn to but you. You alone have the words of Eternal Life. Please provide my husband with a better paying job. Please somehow intervene. Please help me have faith rather than be full of fear. I think I am going crazy.

I pray for the land suffering from drought and for your people and other creatures that are affected by this dry time. May this crisis point us to more sustainable lifestyles, may it bring us closer to a vision of your kingdom. Amen

Please pray for my family. My husband needs a new job. My weight loss needs to work quickly. I have health issues to deal with. Pray for Eric and Tracy to find an affordable home. Pray for the marriage of Tammy and Aric to be loving and strong and may Aric never cheat on tammy again. Also, pray that Tony finds friendship and gets rid of lonliness in his life and his job stays strong and lucrative and he can afford a home someday.
Pray for Isaac (7) and Maya (2). Bless you for all of your prayers.

A Christmas Prayer, 2007
OUR Father in Heaven, we give thanks to you for giving this world your only Son, Jesus Christ our LORD. We humbly ask for your forgiveness to all our most grievous sins, committed knowingly or unwittingly; and for your mercy on all our wretched souls, so that ultimately, though the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our LORD, we might all receive your redemption and salvation.
Help us remember the humble birth of Jesus Christ our servant, so that we can follow his example and live with humility, and to help the less fortunate people in this world, not out of charity, but out of love; not with contemptuous pity, but with equal friendships; not for boasting our self-esteem, and not for the hope of earning any returns – whether in this world or the next one – but because it is the right thing to do.
We pray for the peaceful co-existence of the Abrahamic Religions; teach the clergy and the laity in our community to love our neighbours, be they friends or “foes”, and, as the Holy Bible teach us, not to oppress foreigners in our nation, for we had been – and perhaps we still are – foreigners ourselves.
May we, too, as a congregation, love God, love each other, and love ourselves, in the spirit of friendship and celebration.
This we pray in the name of Jesus Christ our LORD.
AMEN.

Please, please pray to our Father in Heaven for my wretched, rudderless soul. Pray ceaselessly for his forgiveness of my manifold sins (real or alleged), and for his guidance to the path of righteousness. I am utterly confused, not sure of the correct approach to my future career, relationships, and just about every single aspect of life. Being born into a deeply conservative family gives me little room to make informed decisions about my life. But it is more than mere “clash of two cultures”; they also have a profound sense of insecurity and ignorance to the outside world, to the point of making wonder whether I can ever make the right decision for myself. The issue has been going on for many years, and the choices for me seem to be either conformity or confrontation, and neither seems to be in our best interests (“our” means “me and my family’s”). I cannot see a third way out; therefore please pray, in the name of Jesus Christ our LORD, for harmony and concensus in my family.
AMEN.

“Sorry!”
We, as citizens of Australia, hereby pay our respect to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, who, by the Grace of God, are from time immemorial the indigenous residents and custodians of Australia.
We, as Christians in Australia, hereby offer our deepest apology to the indigenous people of Australia, for the roles churches played in the racially-moltivated, forced removal of indigenous children from their families, and the subsequent abuses the children suffered in missions, during the 20th Century.
We, as Christians in Australia, hereby offer our deepest apology to the child migrants from the United Kingdom to Australia, for the roles churches played in the deceptive removal of these children from their families to Australia, and the subsequent abuses the children suffered in missions, during the 20th Century.
We, as Christians in Australia, hereby offer our deepest apology to orphans and their mothers, for the roles churches played in the forced removal of infants from their unwed mothers, and the subsequent abuses the children suffered in orphanages, during the 20th Century.
Furthermore, we hereby offer our deepest apology to women unjustly branded as “fallen girls”, who suffered indescribable abuses under church custody, during the 20th Century.
Also, we hereby offer our deepest apology to all those who suffered sexually abuse while under church care throughout the ages.
So grave are all these sins against humanity that we dare not ask for forgiveness, be it spiritual or temporal. So profound are all these wrongs against humanity that any measure of redressing would be too little, and very often too late, to make it right again. So fundamental are all these betrayals against humanity that the very concept of Christianity has proven traumatic beyond imagination to many of the churches’ victms. Therefore we ask for God’s mercy on us all.
Moreover, as a private citizen of Australia, I hereby offer my sincere apology to victims of discrimination, including but not limited to the physically, mentally and intellectually challenged; the elderly, the poor, the homeless; families with unwed parent/s; followers of other religious faiths; and victims of homophobia, racism, and sexism. In particular, I would like to offer my personal apology to all womyn; over the years I have had quite a few instances of inappropriate behaviour towards womyn, even if these were acted out unwittingly; still, to the victims of sexual harrassments, I would like to offer my special apology, and I would like to extend my goodwill to you all.
Finally, I hereby offer my apology to all those who have had to put up with my antisocial behaviour, bad temper, carelessness, coarse language, disobedience, insincerity, and evil thoughts in general.
To sum it up: to the Triune God, my neighbours, my enemies – I AM SORRY.

a well prayer
strength
in life-giving water
in the space between drops
moving through the air
catching the light
laughing in the spray
the well woman sings to us
she takes words and carries them
water bearing, word bearing
strength bearing
we must lift the cup
and let the water still
so your words can rise up
like we can rise up
we must be vessels
we must carry the cup gently
we must bear the weight
amen

We pray for our fellow Space for Godites, our families and friends, and indeed myself, who, all too often unbeknown to us, suffer from terrible illnesses and afflictions. Grant us peace and comfort, O LORD, and strength to fight the good fight, and hope to finish the race. Help us love and care each other, and may kindness and tolerance prevail amongst our neighbours.
May the Sun/Son rise with healing in His wings,
AMEN.

LORD, have mercy on my soul. Remember and forgive and remedy my imperfection, my procrastination, my clumsiness.
May our LORD and everyone in our communion remember our friend Steph, that her ministry in Glebe might be the honour of our LORD and our communion. Also remember those who were absent this week: Katishe, Clare, and Jennie (I hope that I did not freak her out).
LORD in your mercy…
AMEN.

O LORD,
Please remember your unworthy child,
Whose life has been one of many disappointments,
Waiting for Godot to come.
Let me love and be loved,
And be at peace with myself, with my neighbours,
And with Jesus Christ our LORD.
AMEN.
